    COMMENTS FROM VegDining.com VISITORS:
"The restaurant is within easy walking distance of the Metra train and the Tivoli. Parking is ample, though timing it right can be crucial or you'll have to park several blocks away past all the commuters' cars.

My friend and I had never been to a raw food restaurant before, but we were both impressed. Prices are a little steep - the standard lunch entree is $15, which means lunch for two (1 appetizer, 1 dessert, no drinks) came to $50.

Quality is excellent, presentation good, and it's certainly fresh. We tried the nori roll appetizer; the "rice" is grated jicama, which adds a nice clean crunch to offset the tang of the dipping sauce. Lunch entrees come with three small portions of side salad; the tomato and dill was quite wonderful; there was some sort of wilted greens thing and a coleslaw/corn thing, both of which were merely OK - the flavors were understated. I had the sweet potato "quesadilla" with cashew cheese, which, as the server noted, is indeed quite spicy. The wrapper, made of some sort of dried vegetable paste, was less confusing texturally than I'd feared, and the filling was flavorful. The food seemed to have an emphasis on finely ground ingredients, but of course if you're going to try to eat raw sweet potatoes, this is required. My companion had the Mediterranean platter, which included stuffed mushroom, a "kabob" and falafel made out of nuts, and a beet salad. Portions were copious and dessert was pushing it, but we were here for the experience.

I'd heard good things about the rainbow cake; it's a very large portion (easily serves two) of layered banana "ice creams" and a layer of berry sorbet on a date crust. The date crust was surprisingly hard and a bit difficult to cut; the berry sorbet was good, but the banana sorbets, notably the cinnamon, didn't impress me. The banana wasn't completely mixed in, and overall it reminded me of the banana-based frozen desserts in a "Kids Can Cook!" type cookbook - it wasn't up to the quality of the entrees. Perhaps next time the blueberry "cheesecake."

The owners are extremely friendly, and the service is quite solicitous. They're happy to answer questions about raw foods, and they emphasize that their restaurant is about extremely tasty food first, with the health benefits kind of a bonus. The outdoor seating is lovely, though what would be a terrific view of the Tivoli is ruined by some weird beams extending out from the building that houses the restaurant. If you're eating outside while the trains are running, be prepared to periodically stop talking as the trains go by.

Open Mon-Sat; closed Sundays."

"This is my favorite restaurant. Not only is it vegan, but it's all raw. There is not a stove or oven on the premises. From appetizers to desserts, everything is lovingly made from raw fruits, nuts, grains and veggies. And it is sooo delicious! So if you are looking for a filling, delicious, satisfying meal without the guilt afterwards of indulging too much, this is the place for you. And whatever you do, don't forget dessert. Their desserts are out of this world!"

"Not only is the food delicious but it is beautiful too! Be sure to save room for dessert. Owners/staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. Great for lunch or dinner; dine in or carry out (bring your reusable containers). Finally I have a place in town where I can grab a quick bite to eat without all of the animal and trans fats and sodium. Great find!"
