LITTLE ITALY

"To tell you the truth, I really didn't have great expectations out of this place. I had just dined sumptiously at Trattoria in Mumbai, and thought I was in for a Gujju-style hash of pasta and ketchupy pizza. And I was proved so very pleasantly wrong by this lovely place. The ambience is very pleasing - a stylish glass fountain and black and white prints of Italian monuments. I did find all those empty vintage wine bottles displayed at the entrance a little confusing since Gujarat is a dry state.

Nevertheless - the food! The menu choice itself was overwhelming and one of the best I have seen. The crema di funghi soup was delicious as was a spinach dip that we ordered for starters. Then a lovely thin crust pizza and my favourite - crepettes. Filled with mushrooms and generously (but not overwhelmingly) covered with sauce, this pancake was met with delight and approval . We ended our meal with a single chocolate bomb (between three people) and met an agreeable mix of something that tasted like marshmallow, sinful chocolate sauce and vanilla icecream. Sigh ... what a divine evening. Full marks to Little Italy and I would recommend it to anyone who loves Italian or would like to be introduced to it."
