CAFE MAITREYA

"Wow! This was my second visit to Café Maitreya, the first being 3 years ago. I had remembered it to be fantastic and 3 years on it is even more fantastic! In every way possible, this is the best restaurant I have ever been to! Wonderful staff, lovely atmostphere, super inventive and creative menu, reasonably priced, huge portions and above all great tasting food! As a strict vegan, I can honestly say this was the most delicious and unusual vegan food I have ever tasted, and my sister, a non-vegan, non-vegetarian said it was the best food she had ever tasted! Can't wait to go back! If you ever find yourself in Bristol, don't miss this one!"

"I took my boyfriend to Cafe Maitreya for his birthday, it was the first time either of us had dined here and we had a kind welcome and despite it being busy (I had pre booked) we were still offered a choice of tables.

Although the menu is set (a choice of 2 courses or 3 courses at a set price) there is a wide choice and the staff were very helpful when we could not decide what we wanted by giving their recommendations. We chose the 3 course menu and whilst I had a delightful organic cola my boyfriend drank organic beer which he said was very enjoyable. The flavors in each dish complemented each other and we were given a sorbet between courses which was also very tasty. Many dishes had a Vegan, Gluten Free or Dairy Free option and I chose a vegan dessert following a recommendation of a fellow diner.

In all I would recommend this restauant to anyone whether vegetarian or not for the quality of the food and I am not surprised it won the The UK's Top Vegetarian Restaurant in The Observer Food Magazine Awards 2007 and in The Vegetarian Society Awards 2004 and 2005!"
